Liege is the third city of Belgium by its size, after Brussels and Antwerp and the first in Walloony. The city is located at the confluence of the Meuse and the Ourthe Rivers, south of Maastricht (Nethelands). It was a very industrialized city (coal) but today the activity beats around the Liege's Autonomous Harbour, the Liege-Bierset Airport and the new Liege-Guillemins Station.
From its historical past, the city is rich of old civil and religious monuments, museums: the Princes and Bishops Old Palace (transformed into a Courthouse), the St. Jacques-le-Mineur Church or the Sainte-Croix Collégiale. |
