The Quinta de São Thiago is a family-run private house and gardens set in a very peaceful environment on the lower slopes of the Sintra hills. This historical building dates back to the 16th Century and was once inhabited by monks from the local monastery. Guests are invited to enjoy Quinta de São Thiago as if it were their own home. This charming, small hotel is positioned between the walls of the 13th century recovered medieval village of Villa Meã, 8 km from Viseu and less than an hour from the coast. With typical rural architecture from the early 20th century, the house has 23 comfortable bedrooms, including 3 suites. The Pousada de Angra do Heroísmo - São Sebastião, is installed in a fortress of 16th century - known as well as 'Castelinho de São Sebastião' (Saint Sebastian's Little Castle) - constructed after the demand of King D. Sebastião. The castle is surrounded by high walls, but some parts are nowadays in ruins. Even though, it still preserves its most characteristic elements.
