Trinity College, Dublin, is one of the oldest universities in the British Isles, and the oldest in Ireland. Founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth 1st, the College is in an enviable position in the very heart of Ireland's capital. During the summer vacation between the middle of June and the end of September the College opens up its 800 residential rooms on the historic city centre campus for visitors. The accommodation available within the campus reflects the various architectural periods during which the College has been in existence. Walton, who won the Nobel Prize for his work on the atom. Other graduates include Ireland's first president Douglas Hyde, and, more recently, Mary Robinson, the first female president of the country.

It is housed in two Georgian townhouses, and was totally refurbished in 1999. It offers a series of accommodation layouts at great prices, and is ideal for couples, families and groups visiting Dublin. Each of the 21 comfortable en suite rooms come complete with remote control colour televisions and direct dial telephones. Being a listed building however, it was not possible to install an elevator, and may not be suitable for those who find climbing stairs difficult.
