Transformed from a 14th century castle, this hotel offers a unique blend of history, modern facilities and fine dining restaurant. Castillo De Villaviciosa was constructed to hold control of the Ambls Valley from nearby Extremadura. The hotel takes its name from leader Sancho de Estrada, descendant of Roman emperors and captain of the Knights of Avila, whose insignia was the black eagle over a golden field. Solosancho rests to the south of Ambls Valley, where countryside varies from the mountainous south to the green plains of the north. The hotel restaurant serves traditional cuisine that draws from fresh, local ingredients.
