The house is located inside the walled city, after the Arc of Santiago in the Calle Cambrones, right next to Santa María la Mayor. The name of the street dated back from the 14th century when Doña Evangélica, an impoverished woman of noble birth, started here the first linen and silk weaving workshop in the village. In one of the windows, one can still see a humble coat with the arms of the daughters, who married noblemen and left for the Indies.

This enticing and unique hotel was originally a convent and has been lovingly restored and converted into a stunning and contemporary hotel, respecting its interesting past and preserving its charm. When you enter the hotel you will feel like you are stepping back in time, to the end of the 15th century, when the convent was built and run by the Brothers of San Francisco religious order. It was converted 1946 into a flour mill and now houses a museum devoted to the mill. The considerate conversion rehabbed and painstakingly preserved the original, spiritual character and craftsmanship of the convent whilst adding all the contemporary comforts of today. The old vegetable garden has been transformed into a pleasant open space where guests can quietly sit back and read surrounded by olive groves or take a dip in the pool. It also houses a restaurant, a terrace cafe, a meeting room, an events hall and parking. Alcántara is situated in the east of Cáceres, just 11 km from the border with Portugal and boasts 2 stunning historical monuments, an impressive Roman bridge and the San Benito Convent.
